Hello there. Here we have what might be the ONLY existing February, 1938 Quaker Puffed Wheat in-store advertisement poster which also mentions Shirley Temple's latest hit movie 'Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm'. I say this because I've searched all the places online I would to find to another or another that has sold and I haven't been able to find a single example of this poster. Very scarce nonetheless.
This poster is folded as originally sent to retailers and measures approx. 9"x25.5". Below the poster there is a snipe(locally printed movie ad) at the bottom and the snipe is attached to poster. Snipe has some damage and a missing piece and is torn(see photos ). Snipe has an adhesive on reverse that , besides what's connected to the poster, is still there. Like old style stamps had on reverse.
This was found in a large, old, old scrapbook put together by a 1930's theater worker. The back left side still has a small piece of the scrapbook paper attached by glue. Small hole about 3.5" above what would be Shirley's left eye(see photo#6). A few spots of surface wear at upper corner areas(see photos 6-7). Has a little yellowing/aging of the paper at the edges. This is a very, very solid poster. Paper is not brittle, no splits at folds, no writing, color is nice. Certainly your impressive collection cannot be complete without this beauty.
